Native Californian Betty Anne Stewart Kirkpatrick is known
for the paintings inspired by her travels throughout Europe,
Central America, the Orient and Tahiti, as well as her works
depicting the excitement of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long
Beach. "Tomorrow's Dragon," a collection of works
inspired by her visit to the People's Republic of China,
exhibited at the Long Beach Museum of Art and she has been
named the Official Artist of the Long Beach Grand Prix.
The recipent of many awards, BASK's paintings
have been shown at the Oakland, Downey, Laguna, San Bernardino
and Long Beach Museums, and at U.C. berkeley and Irvine,
along with Edward Dean Museum and the National Academy in
New York. Her painting, "Brambilla's Corner,"
inspired by the Long Beach Grand prix, exhibited in the
El Paso Museum. Her paintings are in the collection of the
Central Art Academy in Peking China, the Long Beach Museum
of Art, the Chekiang Art Academy in Hangchow, the Founder's
Collection of the California State Colleges, the California
Federal Savings and Loan permanent collections, the Kappa
Delta Sorority, UCLA, Ellis Schrader Realty, Huntington
School, Sterling Development, Orbit Petroleum, Lubri Lon
inc and Long Beach Grand Prix Associations collections;
as well as many other public and private collections in
the USA, Europe, South America, the South Pacific and the
Orient, including those of entertainer Dean Martin, former
Secretary of HEW, Robert Finch, LBGP president Chris Pook,
and Formula 1 racing drivers Carlos Reutemann and Gilles
Villenueve. Among the exhibits of which her paints have
been a part are the Mt. San Jacinto College, Chataqua N.Y.,
Cedar City, Utah, and Inland Show in San Bernardino, Hillcrest
Invitational, Cerritos Open, Rocky Mountain National Watercolor,
San Diego National Watercolor, Greater New Orleans International,
and Watercolor West.
BASK is a past president of the Long Beach
Art Association and is a former member of the Board of Directors
of the Long Beach Museum. She is a juried artist member
of the Laguna Museum and Women Painters West; a member of
the Torana Art League, Artists for Economic Action, and
the Los Angeles Institute for Contemporary Art; a board
member of Watercolor West; an associate member of the American
Watercolor society. She has served as a Mayor appointee
to the Board of Directors of the Public Corperation for
the Arts and is listed in the International Artists' Registry
and Who's Who International for her accomplishments as an
artist.
